welcome to the fys consistency challenge! here’s how to get started

Thank you so much for signing up for the FYS Consistency Challenge. I am incredibly pumped to welcome you to our community. The next two weeks are going to be so much fun and so rewarding as you get consistent.

Getting started is always the hardest part. But since that’s out of the way, let’s get you set up for success as you find your strength in the FYS Community Challenge.

Here are a few things to consider before you hit the ground running!

what is the best way to build healthy habits?

Building habits that stick takes time. The next two weeks are going to help you get started OR keep going on that thing. Start small! If you have a long list of all of the things that you want to change in your life, write them down and then examine them.

what is the one thing that you have on that list that seems the easiest for you right now?

“Easy” is relative to you. It might mean completing a challenge in less than a minute. Or maybe just knowing that you have the time to do it makes it feel easy. Or maybe you don’t need to buy anything—or shift anything in your day—to make it happen. What does “easy” mean to you?

do you have the resources to do that thing?

If you’re planning to swing a kettlebell 50 times a day, do you already have a bell? Do you know how to swing a bell? Are you used to swinging a bell that often, or should you start with fewer reps? Make sure you’ve got everything you need and set realistic expectations for yourself.

what barriers will stand in your way for the next two weeks?

Do you have work expectations? Are you shuffling kids around? Is the weather just honestly not going to cooperate for you to get outside every day? Be prepared for obstacles now so it will be easier to hurdle them later.

what is your motivation, really?

Get curious about what is motivating to you—but don’t rely on that motivation alone to help you accomplish your daily goal. As you’re going to learn throughout this challenge, motivation isn’t the only ingredient in the recipe for building healthy habits.
