stop working out and start training with fys

going to the gym can work for a lot of people. training with fys can work, too.

Hopping on a stationary bike and “sweating it out” or “feeling the burn” in virtual cycling sessions? Sure, that can work.

Getting up early and running five miles.

Swimming laps after work.

Kickboxing.

These are all perfectly fine forms of exercising—but they’re just not for everyone.

And that’s the beautiful thing about our bodies. They’re all different. More to the the point, they all react differently.

So if you still haven’t found the best method or most comfortable environment for achieving physical strength, mental wellness, or emotional stability, please consider training with FYS.

I’d love for you to check out my FYS Community Plan—but before you do, see if you agree with some of the key concepts that form its foundation. If you agree with or believe in these statements, you’re probably a great fit for the FYS Community, and we’d be happy to have you! Here’s what they are.

fat shaming is NOT a part of a healthy training program.

Statements like, “Beach season is right around the corner” and “Ugh, look how fat I am” just ain’t it. When I see some of these “influencers” use some such fat shaming strategy to “motivate” their clients, it makes my skin crawl. Instead, body-positive ideas and actions are the healthiest ways we can move toward healthy habits and self respect—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

it is important to start small.

When we’re learning to swim, do we dive straight into the deep end? When we’re learning to read, do we start out with “Crime and Punishment”? No. If we’re new to strength training, it’s more than okay to start small—it’s actually recommended. Five minutes? Yes. Ten minutes? Let’s do it. Small steps lead to leaps and bounds.

pooping your pants is not an option.

Yeah, you read that right. I once was so committed to working out that I completely ignored my body, which was quite clearly telling me to take a break. How did I know I pushed myself too hard against my body’s will? You guessed it. I totally pooped myself. That’s when I learned the importance of not just taking a break, but thinking about how that break made me feel. Here’s the point: Being curious about our habits will help us understand what’s best for us.

community support is valuable.

You don’t always have to work side by side or one on one with an instructor online. While doing so can help you develop the confidence to own movements and ease anxieties, you may find more comfort sharing your experiences in an online community of like-minded individuals. Want to share celebrations? Ask questions? Learn new ways to embrace a healthy lifestyle—without sharing the intimate details of your training session? We’ve got a private community for that.

sometimes doing less can be more fulfilling.

More time to think. More space to breathe. More opportunities to be. When we take some time out of our schedules to simply exist, we can take comfort in the realization that we are really in control of ourselves—and that’s a beautiful thing.
